Godsmack‘s upcoming European tour has been postponed due to the unexpected death of guitarist Tony Rombola‘s son, Joe Fay.
In a statement on behalf of Rombola and his wife Sue, frontman Sully Erna calls Joe “one of the kindest and most humble guys I had ever met.”
“Most importantly, he was a FAN. Just like all of you,” Erna says. “He literally lived the success of Godsmack through his Dad. He was always so excited and proud just to be around all of us, and we will all miss him deeply.”
Joe died at age 34, though the cause of death has not been revealed. “As we await more information on how this happened, we humbly ask that you respect Tony and his family’s privacy as they take time to process this and heal,” Erna says.
Godsmack’s European tour was set to kick off October 29 in Stockholm. The band plans to make up all scheduled dates in 2019.
